So what are all these murals about?
Hosting a mural is a fun and creative way to get involved with what we’re doing in Pakistan. Here’s a quick rundown of what the murals are, how they work, and how to make it happen!
What are the murals?
The mural is a fundraiser that helps raise funds for the projects that All People Free is doing. This includes starting and supporting brickyard schools, starting and supporting sewing schools, intervention and rescue of families, and investing in a brickyard to contribute toward systemic change.
How does it work?
When you decide to host a mural fundraiser, you will receive a kit in the mail to help you complete the mural with your community. You’ll receive # pieces that can be painted or drawn, which will eventually come together to create the collage. One by one, people can make a donation of $ and receive a “brick” to create. They’ll also receive a diagram of how to design their piece and where on the mural to place it when it’s done. Then, they get creating! Once every brick has been painted, they come together to make a mural of some of the children we’ve met in the brickyards. All of the materials and instructions will come with your kit, and you can choose to host your fundraiser any way you want. Some ideas include hosting an event, a community meal, a block party or fun run, or have an ongoing campaign in your school, neighborhood, or place of worship. The possibilities are endless!
How do the murals help?
Each completed mural raises $4,000 for projects through All People Free. The money raised is equivalent to providing education for 80 of our students for an entire year…which can change the trajectory of their lives forever.
In addition to raising funds, mural fundraisers are a great way to educate your community about modern day slavery. By putting the mural on display, you can use creativity to inform your community of the slavery people are enduring right now in the brickyards. Education and awareness are the first step towards changing the future for those impacted by slavery. The mural represents hope for the children in the photo and can stand in your community as a reminder of the communities you are connected through across the world.
